WARNING.....grumpy when hungry.......

I am 10 days post op and feeling great. Except I am starting to get hungry. I am on a liquid diet for 2 weeks post op, have 4 more days, feel like I want to eat my arm off and feeling a lil grumpy. I will drink my shake or soup and within an hour I have that empty hungry feeling again. Is this normal to feel hungry at this point? After the surgery my surgeon told me I don't have a lot of tissue on my stomach and will need a bigger fill for my first fill. Also I am down 16 pounds WOOO HOOOOO. 7 of that is post op and now the scale has not moved in 3 days, I'm not too worried about this cuz I know it will come off at some point...right??? I mean I have only had water, broth, protein shakes, and yogurt for over a week now. So this leads me to my last question, do you think it would be horrible if I started my puree's a couple days early?

Thanks for reading all of my whining ;-)

  1. 16 lbs is AWESOME! Great work!

I don't think it'd be terrible for you to start purees early...it's not like you're planning on moving right to solids!

  2. You are doing great:) The liquid stage is the worst, because it seem to me that we all get to the stage were it doesn't sustain us towards the end.

I would going to thicker liquids and really well pureed foods, I used to pulse some canned soup really well and than heat it up. Would only eat about a quarter of a cup, but it did wonders and it passed the straw test (could be sucked up through a straw) so that helped kep me fuller for longer.

    You're nearly there:)

  3. Hi Jaimie, I got banded on Thursday 29th so one day after you. I have kinda moved onto mushies. I'm still mostly on fluids but the last two days I have had a little scrambled egg. I just can't wait to get onto full mushies, I am feeling just so hungry most of the time.
Glad I found you guys so I can follow along your journey at the same rate as mine :o)

  5. I think you should follow your post-op diet 100%!! You only have to do this ONCE, and if you can't commit to this, then it sets you up to not commit to the rest of it.

Also, they just stitched your stomach and it is not healing around your band. The more solid of a food you eat, the more your stomach has to move around and churn it up, which is why you are on liquids right now. It is definitely not worth risking damage to the band and your stomach at this point, the post-op diet is very important for this reason! Please don't sabotage yourself!
